Guru, of mame dumping fame, reworked the PCB for the galaxian multigame to change a few of the chips to easier to come by versions, which in some cases, means surface mount. The ram can be CMOS and battery backed or FRAM instead. The DS1210 is an SMT version which should be cheaper.
Some testing to be done to make sure that everything connects as it should, but hopefully two different versions of PCB available soon!
Games will be the same, but this version may be able to expose more battery backed ram so it may be possible to add high score tables to additional games. As yet code used will be identical, other than this uses a different GAL chip to support the FRAM option.
